Backyard visitors....

Blue and rosy, the Lazuli Bunting came to my feeder for a visit. I always think I'm seeing a mountain bluebird, but one look at the short, thick beak and I know it's the Lazuli.

Look at this charming fellow with his streaked wings and rosy breast.
This is the Rose-breasted Grosbeak. He has a (schnos) beak only a mother could love.
Who's in your backyard?

  1. Boy, are you ever good with your birds! I would have thought it was a bluebird. We have the usual -- finches, cardinals, hummingbirds and this year an extra -- some sort of big hawk (I think I've mentioned) is nesting -- I hope he's not terrorizing the smaller birds.

  2. I love seeing different birds from your part of the country. Right now we have a pair of bluebirds nesting in a birdhouse on one of our fence posts. If only I was as good at photographing bitds as you are!

  3. Pretty birds! The Lazuli Bunting is such a pretty guy! Lucky you. Oh, I love spring/summertime.

This week, we have had "spruce hens" flying around, along with a woodpecker who just arrived. Common Redpolls and finches. I need to get some pictures for sure. Thanks for the sunshine, and pretty scenery. It makes me happy to come here.:)

  4. I have no clue, it is has been to drizzly to find out. I love seeing all the different wildlife on your land. Love Clarice

  5. Way cool, especially the bunting! (The birds are always brighter on the other side of the country, you know.) It has been rainy here this week, which is just as well, because I needed to do things at home!

  6. I've been enjoying all sorts of lovely birds in our garden for the last few weeks. I've seen the return of the hummingbirds, goldfinches and the swallows. We have an eagle that flys over, and chickadees, wrens and sparrows. Robins and a new bird, a Western tanager. Few of our birds are as colorful as these two fellows visiting you though. They're beautiful, Jody. Thanks for sharing them.
