A barn swallow baby is the last one left in this spent nest,
but he's hanging onto the remains of his home for as long as it will support him.
To the attentive eye, each moment of the year has its own beauty, and in the same field it beholds, every hour, a picture which was never seen before, and which shall never be seen again.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Neat perspective, Jody. This brought to mind Ecclesiastes 3.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to see someone appreciate what once was is steall beautiful. Thank you for sharing. PS I love gumbo lilies and miss them greatly.
ReplyDeleteA photo of me would be in place on this post...smile.
ReplyDeleteG'day Gumbo Lily. Lovely photos. The barn swallow baby is so cute. Take care. Liz...
ReplyDeleteI like your viewpoint. Yes, summer is winding down. I noticed that my bunny is shedding. Even though it is hot and miserable, change will be coming.
ReplyDeleteLove it! That's about how I'm feeling right now:)
ReplyDeleteLove the quote!
ReplyDeleteIt's so very true. We need to be grateful for THIS moment.
ReplyDeleteTonight it does make me feel nostalgic and a little blue truth be told though. I think your post was fitting to my mood. Life is a crazy thing-worship in all stages.
One of my favorite parts of fall is all the down and out flowers in the garden. I think they're beautiful.

The beautiful blossoms have done their God ordained work and now the next phase begins. Looks like a little birdy has a new phase to begin as well! :)
ReplyDeleteWe're watering up here too which is quite unusual. Everything is blooming pretty well - and today we had a lovely rain. The farmers really needed it.
ReplyDeleteI love the book Mrs Mike - it's an old favourite.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful perspective!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
