My feathered friends are back!

 mountain bluebird

It MUST be spring!  Today, just one day before the vernal equinox, I spotted 3 bluebirds on the fenceline as I drove home from feeding cows, and then as I was fueling the truck, I heard the western meadowlarks singing their sweet hearts out.  When I drove home and got out of the truck to walk into the house, my ears caught the sound of robins chirruping.  Oh, my soul rejoice!  It's Spring!

The reason birds can fly and we can't is simply because they have perfect faith,
for to have faith is to have wings.”
~J.M. Barrie, The Little White Bird

  1. My soul is rejoicing with you! Bring it Spring!

  2. YAY!!! The Birdies are back! I would LOVE to see a bluebird -- we have the Eastern variety here, but it's a rare sight. I love the picture of your five babies on the sidebar, btw!!!

  3. Such a nice group of pictures. Seeing them always makes me happy too.

  4. Oh, wonderful! Such colorful birdies.

  5. How wonderful! It's sunny and not so cold here, most of the snow has melted. Love the Barrie quote; used one of his for Dave's funeral program, "Death is a really big adventure" or something similar. Not many people got it but it gave me huge comfort.

  6. Yay for the birds! I can hear them singing now. They sound so happy!

  7. You must feel blessed to be able to welcome such pretty birds back and listen to their sweet singing.

  8. Such color! We really aren't that colorful here in central Oregon but I DO derive much pleasure from my winged friends!

    Blessings, Debbie

    1. We never have bluebirds stay here, but it seems every spring I see them for a quick moment before they continue their migration to the mountains.

  9. So sweet to see those birds come back! We've actually had a robin all winter. But more and more are returning now. And the finches are turning bright yellow.

Great potholders and bibs! I need to give that pattern to someone who sews! And hopefully, they'll give me a potholder and bib or two :)

  10. Oh my gosh! A bluebird already! There is hope! We got another 5 or 6 inches yesterday. I think they will stay out of the hills for a while. I love the potholders and bibs. Glad you are keeping busy.

  11. Bluebirds are so pretty! I wish we had more of them. We have plenty of bluejays, and tons of those fat robins. I love it when the birds start to sing!!
