  2. Oh, my goodness, what a creature! We hear owls from time to time around here, but I don't know what kind. I'd love to see one up close.

I think I've said that before. Glad you saw this one and were able to get these photos!

  6. You got some great photos! We also have an owl out the back. We hear him(her) hooting at night. A few months ago we saw him up on a tree branch, but most of the time he is hidden. (I couldn't get a picture... my camera didn't have a powerful enough zoom.)

  7. Oh you lucky girl Ms. Gumbo! I need to come and visit just so I can see the owls! I haven't made a bucket list, but if I had one, seeing owls just by accident (not is a zoo, etc.) would be right at the top of my list! Thanks for sharing your photos!

  9. What great photos J! I don't think I've ever seen an owl in real life. He's quite the handsome dignified fellow, isn't he?
Once, when I was out of town, Mr. FC came home to find an owl in the dining room -- sitting on the back of one of the chairs. He wrapped him in a coat and took him outside to put him up in a tree. Weird, huh? He thought the owl was calling his name ;). Actually, it probably came in through the doggie door -- maybe chased a cat through -- at least that's our theory ;).
Blessings and happy week to you,

  10. Spying an owl by day is definitely something that sends my girls and I into reverie. It's only happened twice and because of these sightings we are always keeping our eyes open on our walks. Scanning the trees, spotting so many more treasures and always thankful to be in a land of abundance!

    Blessings, Debbie

  11. Great picture of the Owl in the tree. The reason for this note is to let you know that you have inspired my daughter to make your "Twists". I have used a couple of your recipes and love them. Now she is taking to them. You can view the "Twists" at

Thanks again for sharing your home and recipes.

  13. Ooo what a big one, just gorgeous. You are so fortunate to catch him/her on camera Jody. I hear owls every night but have never seen one in the daytime. Owls and the moon always remind me of you;)

  14. Would it be okay to say that I am jealous? We hear the great horned owls about twice a year when they're migrating through -- and only at night. Never by day. What a gift!

    Blessings!
