Day of Preparation...

It's the Day of Preparation at my house. Yours too?
Helpful tip of the day....
Taste your batter, fillings, and everything.  You never know if you missed an ingredient like sugar.  Yes, sugar!  One year I was making pumpkin pies.  I poured the filling into the shells and slid them into the oven.  While cleaning up the bowls and beaters, I tasted the pumpkin pie filling -- ick!  No sugar!  Thankfully I was able to pull the pies out of the oven poured the filling back into the bowl so I could add sugar.  One little lick of the spoon or beaters just might save the day!

Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. We lived in Fl for 45 years but retired to OR, my how I miss shopping at Publix. Loved that store and their commercials. Thanks for the memories.

  2. Happy Thanksgiving. I only have one item to make tomorrow since we are going to friends. I won't start till tomorrow morning. It's so good to start ahead when the meal is your responsibility!

  3. At daughter's preparing today for feast. Roasted turkey today. I brought my Instant Pot along and made cranberry sauce in it this morning and creme brulee in it this evening. Blessed Day tomorrow!

  4. I did that once, too! Yes, important to taste! I hope your feast was wonderful!

  5. This year I wasn't paying attention and put baking powder, instead of cornstarch, in the gravy. I couldn't figure out why it was bubbling like crazy. When I figured it out, I tasted it and it didn't taste any different. I then mixed some more milk with cornstarch. You couldn't tell the difference, but we burped a lot during dinner. Thing is we both didn't feel sluggishly full after we ate. Maybe I'm on to something:)

  6. Ah, good advice. I have done that kind of thing many times. Bonnie's baking powder story is hilarious.

  7. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving day. And a sweet one :-)
