First autumn snowfall...

garden spuds

The first autumn rain and snowfall combination of the year brought us a half inch of rain and then 4-5 inches of snow last night and today. Snow is still lightly falling and may continue tomorrow.

  6. I hope New England doesn't decide to get its' first snowfall while we are traveling there. :)

I don't know about you but I LOVE snow at the beginning of winter but by March I dread it.

  11. Thanks everybody for your comments! I love reading each one. You all express my sentiments about "not being ready for snow," but honestly, I don't mind it too much IF it melts off in a day or two. The sun is shining today, so I'm hopeful.

If you've never eaten a homegrown potato, you're really missing out. They are so easy to grow.

  12. Good instincts, harvesting your herbs and digging your spuds before the first snowfall. Those are some might-fine looking, XL yukons! Love them mashed (skins on) with garlic and butter ~ so yummy!

  13. Oh...it looks so cold. I'm up here in Alaska and we can see the snow on the mountain tops. No snow on the ground here, but have cleaned up the yard and garden. Your potatoes look great. You have great blog, I love it. I check it almost every day. Thanks for sharing. P.S. I have made your sourcream twist a few times this summer for my young adults and their family. Love them. Penny

  15. STorybook Woods,
Fall surely IS here. Almost feels wintry.

    Dixymiss,
I love my taters with garlic and butter too. MMmmm.

    Penny,
I'm glad you're here visiting and I'm especially happy to know that your family likes the Twists! They are SO good. Here's hoping Alaska get some snow soon!

    Grandma Elsie,
I brought my geraniums into the garage with hopes that I might still get to set them on the front porch for a few more weeks. They'll have to stay in there for the weekend because it's supposed to get really cold here. I'm still hopeful for a few more warm, fall days.

  16. We get so little snow here that I'm amazed by the idea you've already gotten your first snowfall. Beautiful!

And that is one amazing potato. Potatoes are on my list for the garden. It seems silly not to grow our own, especially when they're so delightful in every way.
