Where cowboys stow their hats when attending weddings...

A cowboy'd never wear his hat in church....

Nor at the reception.
But it's the first thing he'll grab when he walks out the door....
....when it's time to jerry-rig the Bride and Groom's car.

  1. Heh, heh. I like this peek into a very different world. Your weddings have cowboy hats and cars. The one we went to yesterday had Russian grandmas and the chair dance. But they are all still family glue!

  2. I knew they didn't but wondered where in the world they all put them. I guess a man knows his hat or do they put their initials in them? That may be just a 'mom' thinking and labeling her little boys clothes!!!
I wonder if the married couple always appreciate their car being so messed up but it's sure a long time tradition.
Thank you for the knit compliment!

  3. We use to have a shelf for the boys' ball caps and the girls' dolls in my grade school.

I think I will have to google "jerry rig" :)

  4. Hahaha!!! You know, I grew up visiting cowboy uncles, etc. and I don't think I ever paid attention to what they did with their hats for church. I guess I just assumed they didn't wear them there, but now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure that's not right LOL. And obviously cowboys have a great sense of humor -- did the bride and groom manage to get away?

  5. What a hoot! And I love the song you're playing and remember it. Roy Rogers and Dale Evans sang it years ago, if I recall correctly. Anyway, I love the connection of "happy trails to you" and the beginning of a new couple's life together.

  6. Loved this post! Grandpa always, always wore his cowboy hat. It always seemed strange in church to see him without it and to see his bald head. This post made me miss him. . .

    Great pictures!
