A morning walk...

 Sharptail Grouse

Common Redpolls

Signs of children who play for many hours outdoors.
They love to make these shelters for rabbits and cats.

A beautiful, warm morning with sticky, melting snow underfoot.
Gray skies.
A January thaw.
Glorious.

  1. Glorious indeed...two days ago, 8 inches of snow...yesterday roads were a sheet of ice and today it's 53, sun shining and warm enough to work outside in only 3 layers. Life is good because God is good.

  2. Beautiful and warm here, too! In the 40's! That was a great shot of the grouse, and I love the little shelter the kids built! :)

  7. I love sharptail grouse. They are such curious and chatty birds. We used to get tons of redpolls, but I haven't seen one forever. I enjoyed your walk. I'm finally able to get out and snowshoe again. It makes all the difference. Thanks for sharing such wonderful photos.

  9. Ah -- I can always count on a visit to your blog to take me outside! That was fun. What pretty birds! And it's delightful that the children make shelters like that. Very sweet! I'd use it as a fort.
