Along my path...

I wander through prairie pastures and down dirt roads
when I take my daily walks.
There is always something interesting along my path.
Will you join me?

A pair of bull snakes.

Star Lily (small enough to fit in your palm)

 A busy ant pile.

 Hood phlox.

A puddle in a fresh cow pie.
(A fairy swimming hole?)

A fresh cow placenta.

Closer to home...
 Rhubarb coming up.

And grape hyacinth.
Thanks for walking with me!

  1. Wow! You DO see a variety of interesting things! The grape hyacinths are so pretty!

  2. Your path is quite diverse. Can't say I've ever stumbled upon cow placenta!

  3. It's been a few years since I've experienced cow pies and placentas. Thanks for the memories, lol. The bull snakes seem to be sunning as they snuggle up to their little grass hummocks. Quite an eventful walk!

  4. One gets a sense of your environment from the photos you took on your walk. The miniature flowers such as the star lily and the hood phlox are so pretty. Here 'cow pies' are called 'cow pats' (like in 'a pat of butter') - interesting!

    1. We call them cow patties sometimes too. Then there are *other* names for it!

  5. RUN JODY RUN!!!!! SNAKES!!!!

  6. Wow what interesting things you see!! I would have ran at the snakes and that would have been it.

  7. Thank you for taking us along on your walk! This one was particularly specific to your locale, wasn't it? If you hadn't told us what the placenta was, I don't know that I would ever have guessed. It looks like a beautifully colored painting of a bird, but of course you wouldn't have been likely to run across one of those....

  8. Oh I do not like snakes! Even "safe" ones sunning themselves. :-) And wow that was a really fresh placenta. Thanks for the walk! I enjoyed it. - Dori -

  9. Cow pie bowls of water and flowers in the field, sleeping snakes and active ants and some little calf has slipped its sheath...what a lively eye you must keep as you walk the is so easy to see the blue hyacinth as beautiful, but everything you showed us is full of life's glory. Thank you.

  10. I can't think of anything more enjoyable than a walk through the pastures on a cow path. We walked on the Mickelson Trail today and saw a garter snake. Our dog has never seen a snake and she was very perplexed.

  11. Thanks for inviting us on a walk, I enjoyed it. Except for the snakes, I have a horror of them and these look BIG :-)

  12. What does the old song say...everything is beautiful, in its own way...thank you for the beauty during your walk.
