How do you fly your flag?

Our flag flies almost every day from the front porch.
We've been flying the American flag for at least 20 years.

Our house.
Do you fly the American Flag or your country's flag?
Wouldn't it be fun if all of us posted pictures of our flags flying?

  1. For my birthday I got a 20 foot extendable flagpole. I have to haul it out and raise it each day and then bring it down at dusk. Sometimes we have the U.S. and Marine flag flying and on Sounder game days we have the U.S. flag and the Sounders flag flying.

  2. In packing up I came across the flag my dad flew from our house. The boys hung it in their room for a long while, but is o-l-d and needed to come down. My Boy Scout says it should be retired. I'm torn about that.

  5. We used to hang a really big flag from our roof-line from Memorial Day to Labor Day, but didn't manage this year. Your pictures make me want to run out and hang it now, but considering that hanging it involves an extension ladder and that hubby is having knee surgery today, I don't think it will happen this year. ;-( I do love to see the beautiful red white and blue flying though!

  7. Love all the festive photos, and your pretty front porch. And yes, we fly our flag all the time too. Yesterday, I put up more buntings, but it still looks bare (I'm gaudy you know ;), so I think I'll try to find more when I go to Walmart today. We have a golf cart parade on the 4th, and everyone has their carts decorated with red, white & blue to the nth degree. I don't think we'll enter this year since all the grands are gone, but it's always good fun seeing how everyone has festooned their carts ;). Happy 4th to you and yours!

  8. Would have to come back to the frozen and repressed theme, especially in the thinking department- flag flying here very contentious issue and best avoided, in my humble opinion. The suns are of an age to ask the dreaded questions now, and are being told the blunt version of our not-at-all-proud of our "heritage" philosophy! A while back I spent Hallowe'en in the States with a freind who was on a teaching wxchange, and I adored, loved, and venerated the freedom of one nation with one flag flapping protectively beside every coffee shop, porch and school. Tres Bien, USA, tres bien!

  9. We have our Irish flag flying at the moment, my husband being from that country. My oldest son said we'd BETTER get it changed by the 4th! He's very patriotic and very American. I was not happy about the prices on flags at the store, though....must get one somehow!

  10. I love the look of a flag on a house. We fly ours every day. That's why my blog header has the photo it does. Nothing better than Old Glory!!!
